Step 4 – Fully Automatic Concrete Feed and Compaction PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Concrete is fed directly into the mould, and the pipe is compacted from the socket, throughout the barrel to the spigot. Compaction of the concrete is measured continuously as the bi-directional head moves up the mould. The compaction achieved is recorded by a continuous digital readout, and is also graphically recorded for traceability. Compaction is measured, controlled and recorded from the socket, throughout the barrel, and into the spigot.

Pneumatic cage positioners mounted on the mould ensure correct alignment  of the reinforcement cage. The positioner holds the cage in place, and is withdrawn as the filled concrete level reaches the cage positioner.

The spigot former remains on the pipe machine, and each spigot is made using the same machined former. This ensures that all spigots are identical. The spigot former is “one piece”, eliminating the traditional problems with rough grout “feathering” at joints.
